It was a blessed and beautiful day when the bubbly, free-spirited Juliet walked down the aisle (barefooted) at her family’s country property in rural Nimbin, famous across Australia for its health and wellbeing culture, to marry her long-time friend, the gentle, genuine Nate, from Adelaide.

There were home-made pews for chairs, home-made bouquets for bride and bridesmaids, and home-made curries and desserts for dinner! It was authentic, warm and joyful. After a long-distance courtship over five years, including the challenging times of COVID-19, their long-awaited special day was everything they could have wished for.

Family and friends set up large marquees and decked out the rural property with bunting, lights, and truckloads of sofas and couches in all shapes, sizes and colours for a wonderful boho aesthetic. They also prepared the food, including a spectacular, four-tiered wedding cake.

Nate and Juliet had a ‘first look’ at a large camphor laurel at the front of the property, where Juliet had spent much of her childhood climbing, sitting under, and even sleeping. To make it extra special, their first kiss was under this tree! The bridesmaids, childhood friends in autumn rust and spring green linen dresses, complemented the lovely bride.

After a simple but beautiful ceremony, we moved to the paddock for an assortment of photographs of family and friends. I’ve included more than usual in this blog post, as it was a family wedding with so many families there, so it does give you the vibe!

“I genuinely love your dress,” said Nate, wanting me to get extra photos of Juliet’s hairpiece to ensure we didn’t miss any details! We all love our Nate.

As the sun set over the rugged escarpment of local landmark Nimbin Rocks and the cool, damp evening fell, the milling crowds were entertained with music, warm conversation around the fire pits, dancing, and ice cream before the happy couple headed off with the usual boisterous celebrations, complete with car cans and shaving cream decor, and the guests wound their way safely home.
